Pasadena Second Century History

The Corporation was created by Ordinance in December 22, 1998 and the Texas Secretary of State approved the Articles of Incorporation on January 11, 1999.  The Corporation is a non-profit industrial development corporation governed by Section 4B of the Development Corporation Act of 1979.

The purpose of an EDC is "for benefitting and accomplishing public purposes on behalf of the City by promoting, assisting and enhancing economic development activities as provided by the Development Act of 1979."  These activities as designed to promote and encourage employment and public welfare.

The Corporation collects $.05 sales tax and annually receives $9,000,000 for funding of various public purpose projects.  The affairs of the Corporation are managed by a Board of Directors of seven persons appointed by the City Council of Pasadena, Texas.
